2010 Guild Weekend

15th May 2010

The Guild weekend was a great success, with Guild members attending the marvellous Leavers' Concert on the Friday evening before returning for a packed day of events starting with Prayers on the Saturday morning.

Members attended the Guild Biennial Meeting, a tribute to poet and former English Teacher U A Fanthorpe entitled An Illustrated Conversation with Dr Rosie Bailey in the Parabola Arts Centre.

A delicious buffet lunch in the PH was followed by tours of College and Archives.

In the afternoon a Silver Jubilee Tea was held at Beale and Cambray, celebrating 25 years since the opening of the sixth form boarding houses, built in the gardens of Sidney Lodge.  A marvellous tea was laid on by the catering team and many former staff, guild members and current girls joined Housemistresses Mrs Jane Roberts (Cambray) and Miss Caroline Ralph (Beale).

In the early evening a Pimms Party was held for Mrs Jenny Piper who leaves this summer after 22 years as Housemistress of Farnley Lodge.

These delightful photographs are a record of a memorable day.  They capture some of the feeling of the happy atmosphere created by the mix of ages.
