Retrospective'06
This exciting art exhibition, the first of its kind for CLC, took place at Gallery 27, Cork Street, London, from 20-24 February 2006.
15 artists, all former pupils of CLC, exhibited their work; we were delighted to show such a broad spectrum of styles and age groups. We were particularly honoured to exhibit an original gouache painting by Bridget Riley and she generously donated the proceeds to College.
Over the course of the week we welcomed 237 visitors to the exhibition, some of whom had travelled a considerable distance to see the works of art and to meet old friends. The highlight of the week was a Champagne Reception: 200 guests and the artists joined us to celebrate Retrospective’06 and purchase the wonderful works of art that were on display.
The week was a great success and we were thrilled to raise over £25,000 for the Bursaries Fund.
We should like to thank Tara Healey for her enthusiasm and hard work, and all the other artists, without whom the exhibition would never have happened. Our gratitude also goes to Paul Kilvington, who provided the design and printing of the publicity material, Rosemary Saïd, who sponsored the catering for the reception, Siobhán Gillespie of Haynes Hanson & Clark, Wine Merchants, for sponsoring the champagne, and, finally, the artists for being involved and so generously donating a percentage of their sales to the CLC Bursaries Fund.
